Rodeo Events in Buffalo, Wyoming and Kaycee, Wyoming

rodeo-0502b.jpg (23945 bytes)

Johnson County, Wyoming is a county rich in agriculture. With our over 4,100 square miles and wide open spaces, ranching is a way of life and rodeo is a popular activity. Our many ranches are staffed with talented cowboys and cowgirls who take pride in demonstrating their skills in our local rodeo events during the spring and summer months.

Bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, bulldogging, ladies barrel racing, and even mutton busting for the little tikes are popular in Johnson County.   Both Buffalo and Kaycee have rodeo arenas with plenty of seating and both offer many rodeo events.

The Johnson County Fairgrounds in Buffalo is the site of the annual Johnson County Fair and Rodeo each August. The fairgrounds has entertainment for the whole family as cowboys and cowgirls compete for prizes in the numerous rodeo events while other folks compete in agriculture, cooking and needlework exhibits and livestock events such as stock dog trials and the sheep lead. There are many events participated in by children who proudly display their livestock, crops and other items.

The annual Johnson County Fair and Rodeo Parade is held on Main Street in downtown Buffalo the Saturday morning during Fair and Rodeo weekend.

Kaycee, Wyoming is also the home of many fine rodeos and agricultural events during the year. In addition to the many other events during the spring and summer months, Kaycee is proud to be the smallest town hosting a Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association (PRCA) rodeo.  Held in Kaycee's Harold Jarrard Park arena each year, the Deke Latham Memorial PRCA Rodeo includes traditional rodeo activities and other events. There is also a barbecue, cowboy poetry gathering and an evening country dance.

During the rodeo weekend, Kaycee's main street also hosts a rodeo parade and an art show where you can see the products of local artists and craftspersons.

See the Calendar of Events page for a complete schedule of events for the fairgrounds.  We also list all of Kaycee's events.
